Star Padel -
Court Restoration

Status:

Fully Stabilized & Operational

Scope:

2 Outdoor Classic Courts

Location:

Bordon, United Kingdom

The Challenge

The facility experienced a spontaneous structural glass failure on court one. Concurrently, whenever the central playing net was tensioned to regulation standards, the steel base plates near the net posts lifted off the ground, causing severe structural sway and rendering both courts temporarily unsafe for play.

Incorrect Anchoring Specifications:

The original installation used short mechanical expansion bolts. Under the heavy leverage of net tension, these anchors failed to reach the solid subgrade beneath the asphalt and simply pulled out of the softened base.

Inadequate Asphalt Subgrade

The court was anchored into a thin asphalt base layer that softened under summer heat.

Diagnostic Findings

Our engineering team performed an on-site structural audit and identified two critical factors:

ASTM Clearance Tuning

We replaced the broken glass panels, aligned the entire steel structure, and calibrated all clearances according to ASTM C1048 specifications to eliminate physical stress points.

Subgrade Chemical Re-Anchoring

We replaced all failed mechanical anchors with extended high-tensile structural threaded rods. We drilled past the asphalt layer into the solid subgrade and locked the new anchor system in place using high-performance chemical adhesive injection.

Load Redistribution & Framing Calibration

We installed heavy-duty steel U-channels and structural packers to permanently support and stabilize the dead load of the 12mm glass panels. This removed direct physical strain from the vertical steel frame.

Certified Safe Reopening

The facility safely reopened for commercial play within days of our intervention, with all structural axes validated and compliant with safety codes.

Deflection & Sway Eliminated

The base plate lifting and frame movement under net tension were fully resolved. The court frame remains completely stable and vibration-free under extreme load.
